Unemployment dropped during his administration to under 4% by 2000. That meant workers had more security, bargaining power, and opportunity to move elsewhere. That's very, very big for most people. From the news, it wasn't obvious that ghastly military adventures were going on. The media certainly presented the U.S. stance as too uninvolved in foreign countries (we sat by while genocide occurred in Rwanda; therefore, we have to bomb in Bosnia!) Remember the question, "What didn't you like about Clinton? The peace or the prosperity?" Meanwhile, Clinton was an extraordinarily good politician, and he ran a very competent administration -- no "Heckuva job, Brownie" on his watch.

It was before a robust internet, so there wasn't much way for people who saw what was really going on to get the word out easily. As problems did develop, there was always the promise that this is a transitional difficulty that will be overcome -- "Lost your job because of NAFTA? Here are training courses that will get you another, better job." With hindsight and the info we have now, we can see how odious the Clinton presidency was, but it really wasn't clear at the time. Following Iran-contra Reagan and sandwiched between the self-serving Bush muckers, Clinton looked damned good.nihil obstethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02336022385130880362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5598883894140893389.post-37837339389999790172016-03-18T18:42:08.113+00:002016-03-18T18:42:08.113+00:00LOVE the Bernie and Liz American Gothic. I can perfectly imagine a Hillary/Blankfein ticket at the convention.

At any rate, on the home front: The kitten is just to get your attention.jurassicporkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01673461210301442978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5598883894140893389.post-63607256667747403122016-03-17T15:00:30.577+00:002016-03-17T15:00:30.577+00:00The figures for votes for Bernie Over There are am...The figures for votes for Bernie Over There are amazing.
